Since June, a new butcher's shop has been open in the Fontanilles district. Willy Sigler settled in Mende. He decided to boost the neighborhood's commerce.
Originally from the Somme, he first worked in a large butcher's shop. One day, a machine breaks down. Willy repairs it, to the great satisfaction of his former director. He specializes in multi-service plastics and recycling machines, in parallel with the butchery he created.
A butcher's shop in the Somme
“One day, I was contacted by Environnement 48 in Mende to repair a machine. Then, I am called back for another breakdown. I am then offered a job, where my wife and son-in-law can also be hired. It must be said that working in the industry is better paid. I am selling my butcher shop in the Somme and we are moving to Mende“, he remembers. But out of regret, after a few years, he decided to return to the butchery.
He then moved into the vacant premises in Fontanilles and, with the help of Michel Galfré, he made all the administrative requests. “I financed everything myself. The place was dilapidated. Everything had to be restored to health standards.“
“Repair free of charge”
The butcher shop occupies a beautiful space. It is extended by the grocery store, where basic necessities are found and where customers can ask for what they would like to find. The butcher's back room includes a large workshop and spacious cold rooms.
“I would like to thank Messrs. Blanc, Chabert and Antoine, as well as the technicians from the HLM company who guided me well to succeed. The advantage of my previous job as an electromechanic is that when a machine breaks down, I can repair it immediately without waiting and at no cost.“
Catering service
Willy Sigler is a butcher, charcutier and caterer. Everything is done on site. The products are purchased from local producers. “I fight to have good and inexpensive products. I am currently alone and I am looking for a qualified person to help me. Cécile, my wife, manages the grocery store. She has 20 years of experience in different stores in the Somme.“
Willy Sigler also provides wedding meals, baptisms, communion meals and aperitif dinners for individuals or businesses. He cooks roast chickens every Saturday morning, with potatoes in au jus.
Halal meat to order
On order, it offers halal meat or horse meat. You can taste more original products such as ficelles picardes, maroilles pâté, white cabbage sausage or fricadelles. In the morning, you can come and drink coffee or hot chocolate; in summer eat Italian ice cream. Willy Sigler also delivers to elderly people in the Fontanilles district. It is a place to discover and taste other culinary products cooked on site.
