In Gironde, a thirty-year-old who had been missing for several hours on Monday, November 25, was found by one of his neighbors, in a state of hypothermia, swallowed up by mud.
Monday, November 25, the gendarmes were looking for a 30-year-old young man, who disappeared in Andernos, in the Arcachon basin, in Gironde. But, despite the deployment of the fire helicopter and the mobilization of emergency services, the man could not be found Monday evening. By reading the newspapers, Romain La Posta understands that the missing person is his neighbor. Around 10:30 p.m., he was alerted by his wife who heard a noise. They go to the beach and hear that someone is stuck in the mud.
“We groped our way towards this person […] I asked my wife to call for help and bring blankets.”he told France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Continuing his progress, Romain La Posta finds himself facing his neighbor, in a swimsuit.
“The minutes were very long”
“He had no more strength“, he described, while the missing man was losing consciousness. Romain La Posta began to shake him, then cover him with his own clothes to warm him. With the rising tide, the situation is urgent and the man cannot move the victim alone. “I screamed, 'Help me! Help!”detailed the rescuer.
“I got bogged down. The minutes were very long”remembered Romain La Posta to TF1. Other neighbors, alerted by the noise, also came to help. Together, they pulled the man from the mud, warmed him and waited for help as the water began to rise. The thirty-year-old stuck in the mud was transported to hospital and his life is no longer in danger.
