Half a century ago, on November 9, 1974 at 3:30 p.m., to be exact, the young Francette Godarda beautiful Préaltienne then aged 20, was married to the no less elegant Cormeillais Daniel Mordant two years his senior. Some 50 years laterthe same day, with a two-hour difference, Francette and Daniel returned to the town hall of Les Préaux (Eure), near Pont-Audemer, this November 9, 2024, to renew the contract which binds them for a minimum period of… 50 years!

All this, very officially, with the civil status officer, the first city councilor, Arnaud Mordantwho is one of the couple's children. Let's activate the time machine: we are in the early 1970s when Francette and Daniel find themselves, without really knowing each other, at a communion ceremony at the home of Josiane Machado, Daniel's sister, living in Triqueville. And there, it seems that our two young people had their eyes drawn more towards each other than by the wedding cake which sat in the middle of the table!

Three children

After their union, in 1975, the two lovebirds built a house in Triqueville, a home they still live in today. Soon, the home expanded with the birth of Arnaud, then Céline and Fabien. There is no shortage of work, first for Daniel, who will successively be truck driver, employee of the Bataille company before integrating the Water service. As for Francette, she will work for a time at Monoprix store of Pont-Audemer before becoming approved nanny while fully assuming, of course, her role as mother.

Holder of numerous medalsboth municipal and Charity, Daniel no longer counts his associative investment; municipal councilor in Triqueville for two decades, the man who is today a “happy treaty” was for a time president of the Manneville football club then a member of the Beuzeville water union.

Today, this active citizen is still part of the cantonal office of the National Union of Fighters of Pont-Audemer and remains a driving force in the Triquevillaise brotherhood of Charity. In front of the heroes of the day, family members and friends, Arnaud Mordant reread the official marriage certificate before wishing a long and happy life to his parents who were notably surrounded by their three children and four grandchildren.
