Aviation is a family affair with the Domergues, in La Vèze.

Founder of the Domergue Aviation flight school, Claude is the son of a pilot and has been a pilot himself for sixty years, his son is a captain. Today, his daughter, Julie-Anna, has just obtained her pilot qualification on the Airbus A320 at only 21 years old!

Odd jobs to finance his training

The young woman was immersed in aeronautics from an early age. “I started my first flying lessons at the age of 14 at the La Vèze flying club, while continuing my studies at Saint-Paul high school in Besançon. With the obtaining of my baccalaureate, I passed my training as a private pilot, still at La Vèze, which I passed”.

Wishing to continue on this path which has become a passion, Julie-Anna joined the Strasbourg training center which trains professional pilots.

“To finance my apprenticeship as a jumbo jet pilot, which lasted two years, I did a few odd jobs as a cashier, nanny, saleswoman, etc. I was finally able to validate this training last January with 3 weeks of theoretical courses, and 12 sessions of 4 hours of simulator on cylinder. The last simulator session, carried out at night, allowed me to pass the exam. »

To obtain her qualification, Julie-Anna had to make her first flight at the controls of an Airbus A320. Flight that took place last week in Spain with an instructor captain who sat on her left and a captain (safety pilot) behind her. “Everything went well and my qualification was validated. I am therefore, since last week, pilot certified on Airbus 320. And I am proud of it! »

“I felt very small in this huge bird that weighs 70 tons”

A flight she won’t forget: “When I got on the plane, I felt very small in this huge bird that weighs 70 tons, I was stressed but as soon as I got to the controls, I I was at home, all the stress was gone, being certain that this place would henceforth be part of my professional career”.

The young woman was able to count on the support of her companion, Mathéo Pelletier, 22 years old. Originally from Saône, he followed the same training and also passed his qualification on this type of aircraft.

Julie-Anna is currently interviewing in different companies, a great career as a female pilot is now open to her.
