The new topoguide Walks and Hikes Cahors, Lot Valley and Quercy Blanc is available. It was developed by Lot Tourisme in collaboration with the Cahors Vallée du Lot tourist office and the communities of communes of Grand Cahors, Quercy Blanc, Lot valley and Vignoble et Pays de Lalbenque-Limogne.
35 circuits to discover across the Lot
The official launch of this new guide took place on Wednesday November 20, 2024 in Caillac in the presence of Lotois tourism officials and elected officials from the sectors concerned. On this occasion, the new president of Lot Tourisme Jean-Pierre Jammes underlined that outdoor activities, such as hiking, were “at the heart of the Lot tourism policy” which wishes to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism. 'environment.
35 circuits appear in the reissue of this guide and meet strict quality and safety criteria. No surprise therefore for the hiker who by following this guide will find clearly marked, well-maintained and safe paths, as well as the guarantee of paths in the countryside (the rate of paved portion never exceeds 30% of each route) . Each walk is documented by a map, with details of the route, the level of difficulty and the important points to see (heritage, viewpoint, etc.).
11 new hikes
Some routes in the previous topoguide for this sector no longer met the conditions and were therefore replaced. In total, the new version of the guide includes 11 new routes, adapted to all difficulties, from very easy to more difficult.
This topoguide is also a local development tool, with walks presenting great opportunities for local businesses or accommodation providers.
For his part, the president of the Cahors Vallée du Lot tourist office Jean-Luc Marx welcomed this new tool, hiking being a strong point of tourism in the Lot, between greenways, the Camino de Santiago and the Camino de Santiago. great hikes. These paths are also essential to the trails which have been developing in recent years throughout the department. All the circuits offered are maintained and regularly tested, notably by volunteers from the French Hiking Federation.
The rigorous selection of this topoguide therefore assures the hiker that the best conditions are met for their walks and that the markings are ensured, unlike applications and collaborative sites like Visorando or Komoot.
5 hiking topoguides in the Lot
In all, 5 topoguides of the same type exist in the department: on the Pays Bourian, the Regional Natural Park, the Pays de Figeac, the Dordogne Valley and therefore the Lot valley and Quercy Blanc.
The walks are also on the Lot Tourisme website and the Cahors Vallée du Lot tourist office.
