From 387 applications in 2019, Belgium increased to 2083 applications in 2024, increasing the total number of reservists to more than 3000. Being a reservist: how much time per month should you reserve for the army?
Difficult to give a precise answer. There are a multitude of profiles among the reservists. Let’s take those which are active, that is to say those which are operational and can be called immediately. They must make themselves available at least 8 days per year but it varies, in fact, everything depends each time on the needs of the army and the availability of the reservist. During these few days, the reservists participate in paid refreshers and, depending on their ranks, they do shooting exercises, tactics, military strategy, and physical exercises as well, so as to be ready.
