No more bottled water, the inhabitants of Bernieulles, Cormont, Hubersent, Widehem, Lefaux, and Frencq (hamlet of Le Turne) can once again consume tap water. Analyzes carried out this Monday by the ARS and made public this Wednesday afternoon show that everything is back to normal. Since last weekend, they were prohibited from drinking tap water because it was contaminated with Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria.
Distribution of bottled water
Residents were prohibited from drinking tap water, as well as using it for brushing teeth, preparing food and washing raw vegetables. However, they could wash themselves, use it for laundry, dishes or even the toilet. The urban community of the two bays in Montreuillois organized the distribution of 15,000 bottles of water, at a rate of two bottles per inhabitant per day.
Twice in a month
The city intervened by increasing the chlorination of water networks.
This is the second time in a month that this type of pollution occurs, already on November 6, samples showed a bacteria level slightly above the threshold. The city does not know where this pollution could come from, and the causes could be multiple.
