The new electric Vélo'vs will be officially available on January 29, 2025 in the metropolis of Lyon. They will be accessible for less than €9 per month.
The environmentalist president of the Métropole de Lyon, Bruno Bernard announced Thursday, November 28 on the Bluesky social network that the new e-Vélo'v will be officially launched throughout the territory of the Métropole de Lyon on January 29, 2025.
2,500 new electric bikes
“It will only take one night for us to replace the entire eVelo'v fleet with the new model“, indicates Bruno Bernard, while the stations have been renovated for several months to accommodate these new bikes. 2,500 new bikes will be deployed, or half of Vélo'v's total fleet.

As a reminder, faced with the failure of the electric Vélo'v service with removable battery imagined by the former president of the Metropolis, David Kimelfeld, the new executive has revised the system with batteries five times more powerful, integrated into the bicycles and automatically recharged in station. A phone holder will also be installed on the bikes with a USB port for charging.
To finance the deployment of this new service at no additional cost to the community, the prices for classic Vélo'v subscriptions will increase slightly. Thus, the full price formula will increase from €31 to €39 per year. The 14-25 year old formula will increase from €16.50 to €19.50 per year. The solidarity rate remains at €15. It will nevertheless be possible to make monthly payments to make the service more accessible. Simple unlocking for a journey will go from €1.80 for 30 minutes to €1. For each of these options, it will be possible to access an electric Vélo'v by paying €1 more for a 30-minute journey.
Conventional prices on the rise, electricity prices on the decline
The prices of e-Vélo'v formulas will fall, with the full price subscription going from €155 to €99 per year and €78 for 14-25 year olds, also with the possibility of monthly payment. The solidarity rate is €49.20. Beyond six journeys per day, use will be charged €1 per journey to dissuade professionals from using the service, particularly home meal delivery services.
Please note that for subscribers to the e-Vélo'v portable battery, the final return of the equipment will be made at the Vélo'v counter, located at 11, rue Antoine Salles (Lyon 2th). Subscribers concerned will be able to switch to the new Vélo'v Plus offer once they have returned their e-Vélo'v battery. They will have until March 28, 2025 to return their battery.
