Dance evenings, bingos or even solidarity meals… From Saturday November 30 to Sunday December 1, 2024, all communities get in tune to support the AFM Telethon. Objective ? Raise as much money as possible! “ Outside of town halls, there are many schools where the children are hyper dynamic to create small objects that they resell… There are also individuals who sell tons of pancakeswe have a lot of associations, we also have a lot of partners (companies like Carrefour, Lions, Optique 2000) which collaborate with us. » A remarkable and noticed dynamism in Northern Seine-et-Marne. “ I find that there is a great mobilization this year, we have a lot of new organizers joining us in the big Telethon family… They come with lots of ideas, they mobilize completely with sometimes original ideas. » In the north of the department, all the active forces are accompanied by an AFM Téléthon coordinator: Sabine Bertoche. His role? Help all Telethon ambassadors in their efforts (by obtaining kits or contract renewals). “ We have many faithful, I will quote Boissy-le-Châtel. This year will be the 30th anniversary of the Telethon. A faithful organizer who brought in more than 280,000 euros in thirty years. A great collection ! ” This year, around twenty new communities joined the movement.
A synergy for the benefit of a great cause. Friday November 8, 2024, around a hundred local actors all gathered in Magny-le-Hongre for the big launch evening of the Telethon in the north of the department. “ It was initially created in 1987 in France by two parents of sick children. They were inspired by what was happening in the United States (since 1966), it was research against rare diseases that had been put in place. Jerry Lewis hosted the Telethon shows. » Today, this mobilization for the benefit of Telethon has entered into all customs. This yearthe big evening of the Telethon will be sponsored by an international artist: Mika. « It's important every year. You should know that with the money collected over time, the AFM Téléthon was able to create laboratories including the first human genome map. The research has enabled the establishment of clinical trials of new therapies. Today, we are able to cure a certain number of rare diseases. We can find treatments and save lives. » Do you want to take part in this fight? Only one number: 36 37! « We must continue because there are always children to heal, there are always sick people waiting for treatment. We must continue to fight! We are all affected, it's not just a story of rare diseases, it is aimed at everyone because research also contributes to the discovery of treatments for common diseases (diseases of vision, blood, heartœur or even cancers). » To raise awareness among younger generations, the AFM Téléthon organizes meetings in schools via the operation 1000 researchers. In North Seine-et-Marne, 40 schools are affected. The scientists come to talk with them and answer all their questions.
Communities are mobilizing. In the four corners of the territory, more than 80 municipalities will proudly wear the colors of the Telethon. On Saturday November 30, 2024, a dancing evening will bring together young and old to Saint-Germain-sur-Morin. « The Jacques Goddet gymnasium will be entirely decorated and prepared as a nightclub. We will have our local service provider DJ Alban Events who will provide the dancing evening. He decorates the room with municipal services, starting Friday evening. We are going to decorate the room so that this evening is festive and in the spirit of a nightclub (in a family spirit). » Doors are scheduled to open at 7:30 p.m. Are you greedy? Don't panic! There will be two food trucks on site! “ There will be the possibility of eating on site with food trucks and the Festival Committee. Last year, the overall prize pool showed more than 92 million euros (compared to 90 million in 2022) in donations.
