What are the sexual practices of the young people from Ornais from 15 to 25 years old? Is the use of condoms systematic? What is the consumption of pornographic content? In the age of “nudes”, is dematerialized sexuality a reality?

To answer all these questions, the Orne Youth Information Bureau (BIJ) has just published the results of its investigation “Young people from Ornais and their sexuality in 2024”.

Between March and June 2024

The previous BIJ study on this subject was ten years old. “A decade is both a long time and a short time. It therefore seemed interesting to be able to analyze possible changes in behavior, to explore certain subjects in greater depth, particularly in the field of new technologies, and to broaden the investigation to new themes such as prostitution or sexual violence,” explains the BIJ. , who carried out this investigation with the assistance of the Maison de l'Étudiant d'Alençon.

The figures published today come from data collected from young Ornais aged 15 to 25 between March and June 2024.

They make it possible to quantify possible feelings, and to take a non-judgmental look at the way in which young Ornais men and women approach their sexuality in 2024.

Sex-toys, BDSM…

Among the highlights of the survey, the BIJ reports that “the first sexual intercourse happens a little earlier than before”: 16.89 years on average for the Ornais and 16.63 years on average for the Ornais.

He also notes that “sexual practices have diversified” including the use of sex toys, the practice of facial/oral ejaculation, or practices of submission or domination (SM/BDSM). “These are practices in progress. »

Furthermore, six out of ten young people (60.19%) say they have already taken nude or naked photos or videos, while 57.58% of 14-17 year olds have already viewed pornographic images or videos.

Finally, “the figures for sexual violence are striking,” reports the BIJ. In fact, 22.28% of women report having already been victims of violence during sexual intercourse.
