Luxury watches, rings, necklaces: 763 lots from the Pépin jewelry store will be sold at auction in Orléans

On December 7, a massive and somewhat special sale is scheduled at the Madeleine auction house in Orléans. The 763 pieces of jewelry found in the Pépin jewelry store, placed in liquidation at the beginning of October, will be put up for sale. With prizes for all budgets.

Some will think this is a godsend just before the holidays. An auction of jewelry recovered from the Pépin jewelry store is scheduled for December 7, two weeks before Christmas.

The Orléans institution, liquidated on October 9, was emptied. The legal representative, who represents the creditors, appointed Me Cécile Solibieda, auctioneer, to make an inventory of the goods, which were “listed one by one”. Jewelry from stock intended for sale, on the one hand, jewelry left by customers, on the other hand, but also various materials and tools.

A Breitling rose gold watch for 8,000 euros

The stock of jewelry purchased by the manager, described as “in new condition”, amounts to 763 lots. “There are a lot of luxury brands, including Tissot, Tudor watches and Dinh Van jewelry. Our 'Top lot' (most prestigious lot) is lot 728: a Breitling watch in pink gold, priced at 8,000 euros But we also have rings from around a hundred euros. There is something for all budgets,” assures the auctioneer, who specifies that many boxes were recovered, as well. that the user manuals for the watches and their warranty cards are “neither activated nor stamped, therefore to be done by a third party”.

The most expensive lot: this Breitling rose gold watch.

Angry, a customer of the Pépin jewelry store in Orléans contacted the prosecutor to recover his luxury watch

The amounts recovered will be returned to the agent within one month after the sale. Then, they will be returned to creditors “in order of preference”, certain creditors being paid in priority (salaries, Urssaf, etc.).

Very secure access to the exhibition

The sale will take place all day Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m., with a lunch break. Access to the exhibition, usually free on previous days, will be subject to conditions this time:

“To come and see the properties, on Wednesday 4, Thursday 5 or Friday 6 December, you will need to register with an identity document. The room will be locked and a security agent will be present. We will welcome four people at the times, only.”

No property should remain without a buyer: “Everything must be sold. And everything will be,” specifies the auctioneer. The sale will also be broadcast live on the sites www.drouot.com and on interencheres.com.

Customers continue to collect their goods

This painstaking work also made it possible to set aside the 200 pieces of jewelry left by customers, sometimes for a long time, in order to return them to them. Restitution which is always done little by little and, in theory, for three months, i.e. until January 9, 2025.

“We will take stock at the end of the week on who still has to come. We had calls from customers following your article, but also from the police station, because others had filed complaints. We also sent registered letters to some of which we only had the address, but we had returns due to incorrect recipient.”

Jewelry can still be found at suppliers or in repair shops. Especially watches. “In this case, we make the link and the customer will pay the workshop directly and will recover their property. We have done the maximum, but things will inevitably remain on my hands.” Because two thirds were not even linked to a name or an owner…

Liquidation of Pépin in Orléans: 200 jewels deposited are being returned, but many remain unidentified

These unclaimed goods, Me Solibieda will keep for another “four or five months, if people wake up late” and then will end up selling them “as is”, that is to say very often unrepaired.

At the end of January, another auction, more technical and specialized, will concern repair and watchmaking equipment, tools (ring rings, etc.), displays, etc. Still at the Madeleine auction house.
