An equal opportunities mechanism that has been operating for more than four decades.
As the school holidays approach, the school support system Clas (local school support contract) closed its year at a party held at the town hall. Set up over forty years ago, this system extends to all districts of the city.
Promoting equality and academic success
“The objectives of the Clas are to promote equality of means and academic success for young Columérins from elementary to middle school in the neighborhoods and in close collaboration with all educational partners,” explains Arnaud Simion, deputy mayor, delegate for human solidarity, employment support, health and relations with the combatant world. “It is a fundamental element of equal opportunities.”. A true educational alliance for the success of all children, the system mobilizes all stakeholders. No fewer than 20 facilitators, 32 teachers and 5 volunteers, including 3 from the citizen reserve, support 414 students enrolled this year in the six community centers and the two Agora and Vignemale branches.
“The children are very involved,” says Anne, a volunteer at the En Jacca community center. “We work in a caring and attentive environment. And it works. They regain confidence thanks to fun learning methods.”
Discovering other cultures, seeing their efforts, the progress involving parents, contributes to their success. Cross-cutting projects have been developed. The Clas autrement, the holidays I succeed, the knowledge olympiads, the theater project, or even Kapla, have encouraged speaking, team spirit, self-confidence. Thanks to the five Coup de Pouce clubs in the city, a project of success, but also of solidarity, the children all participated in the first readings prize.
Hadil, 7 years old, is delighted: “I really enjoyed going to the workshops. I learn better.”
Since this year, at the memory library, as part of the educational city, second-year students can be accompanied on Wednesday afternoons. A way to approach their new environment more calmly.
