The Élysée called for “cool blood” and “moderation” on Tuesday, July 2, in response to comments made by Marine Le Pen, who suspected Emmanuel Macron of wanting to commit an “administrative coup d’état” on Wednesday during the Council of Ministers.

“Cool blood” and “moderation”. This is what the Élysée is demanding from Marine Le Pen on Tuesday, July 2, after the RN leader warned against a supposed “administrative coup d’état” by the Macronist camp during the Council of Ministers scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 3.

“According to Article 8 of the Constitution, the only person able to appoint a Prime Minister and his government is the President of the Republic. As he indicated, he will do so after the legislative elections on the basis of the composition of the National Assembly that the French will have elected. Furthermore, Article 13 of our fundamental law indicates that the Head of State appoints to civil and military positions such as prefects during the Council of Ministers that he chairs,” the Élysée Palace indicated in its clarification published this Tuesday, in response to Marine Le Pen’s attacks.

“For sixty-six years, there have been appointments and movements every week, especially in the summer, regardless of the political moments experienced by our institutions, and there is no plan that any of these provisions could change in the coming months,” added the office of the presidency.

A maneuver to hinder Jordan Bardella?

Earlier in the day, Tuesday July 2, Marine Le Pen had “mentioned” a possible “administrative coup d’état.”

“There are rumours that the President of the Republic is considering tomorrow, that is to say four days before the second round, appointing the director general of the national police, while he was supposed to stay until the end of the Olympic Games, and the director of the national gendarmerie,” she declared on France Inter.

According to her, the aim of this maneuver is “to prevent Jordan Bardella from governing the country as he wishes”, in the event of a majority obtained by the RN.

A term also used by Éric Ciotti during his interview during the CNEWS Morning Show, who believes that it is “a sign of defeat, perhaps of lucidity in the matter” and that this potential maneuver would be the symbol of “general panic.”
