One or two cans of fuelit can go unnoticed. But dozens? Not under the eyes of the police Tarn. In recent weeks, fuel thefts from companies in the industrial zones of Albigensian have caused several victims. And the police put an end to it.

How did they do it? By overlapping. A first individual initially stopped for the good reason that he was already “known for similar abuses committed with the same modus operandi”…And the vehicle seen during the thefts matched the one he used. That's a lot.

A well-developed system

The “numerous technical investigations made it possible to implicate him and formally identify him”, specifies the police, who arrested him at his home and placed him in police custody on November 21.

During the search of his bicycle storage room and the cellar of his apartment building, the police did not find many bicycles. More like cans. Lots of cans. 41 in total! And that's not all, because there was with it 8 battery-powered pumping systems and one manual pumping system. Leaving little doubt as to how the suspect obtained the gasoline…

720 liters of diesel in his yard…

“At the same time, the surveillance system set up by BAC personnel at the suspect’s home made it possible to identify a second suspect,” adds the Tarn national police. And he also tended to like cans. He stored in the courtyard of his house, “for a so-called friend”, 36 cans containing approximately 720 liters of diesel. That's a lot of fill-ups… Needless to say, they were immediately snatched up.

As for the perpetrators, they were condemned to sentences which have not been made public by the police.
