Rabat – The number of beneficiaries of the disability certificate has increased to 180,000 between 2021 and 2023, while this number did not exceed 40,000 before this period, said, Tuesday in Rabat, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Aawatif Hayar.

In response to an oral question in the House of Councilors on the care of people with disabilities, Ms. Hayar affirmed that this “significant” figure was achieved thanks to the simplification of procedures and the digitalization approach adopted by the ministry, stressing in the same context the importance of the Unified Social Register in facilitating access for people with disabilities, particularly in mountainous and remote areas, to services dedicated to this social category.

And to recall that the card for persons with disabilities, the implementation of the system of which will take place during this month of July, will allow beneficiaries to access a set of health, education and integration services, according to the type of disability, noting that the ministry works according to a participatory approach with other departments, in particular that of employment, with a view to encouraging entrepreneurship and the integration of persons with disabilities in the labor market.

Also, Ms. Hayar highlighted the creation and rehabilitation of a significant number of social centers, including orientation and assistance centers for people with disabilities, which have been generalized and digitalized in all provinces, reporting the existence of 86 dedicated centers that meet international standards.
