It is with tired features and emotion in his voice that Claude confides. Almost embarrassed by the situation. For a month and a half, this former farm worker has been forced to sleep in his car. Single and childless, he was staying with a friend until recently in exchange for work on the house. But this friend changed her mind and the retiree finds himself living in his car: “It’s hard. In terms of food, I have to do the shopping from day to day because I have no way of preserving food. In terms of sleeping, by moving the driver’s seat forward I can lie down but it’s not very comfortable. My back is starting to feel the consequences,” confides the sixty-year-old.

To shower, Claude also has to manage: “I take the motorway, I go to the Frontonnais service area, it costs me 5 euros in tolls but hey, I shower for free there.”

So Claude puts out a call for help. He receives 1000 euros in retirement and would like to find an apartment in Montauban or the surrounding area. In exchange, he can do some work, gardening or something else. He can even pay rent within the limits of his financial means: “I would like to find a roof. I have been posting ads for a month and a half and I have not had any response. I am not asking for much. At least try to find a roof.”

If you would like to help Claude, you can contact the Occitalien association on 06 95 56 16 37 or by email [email protected] or on the association’s Facebook page.
