A 23-year-old man has just been arrested in Toulouse. On Friday, June 21, he refused to comply with a police check and hit an officer.
“I panicked.” The excuse is classic, but the consequences could have been dramatic. A man was taken into custody at the beginning of the week following an investigation opened for “attempted homicide of a person in a position of public authority.”
The incident took place on Friday, June 21, at the end of the day. A crew from the Mirail specialized field brigade on patrol along the Le Tintoret route wanted to check the driver of a scooter who was riding on a sidewalk.
Despite the police’s orders, this man refused to comply. He fled before crossing paths with another police crew. Here again, he refused to be stopped and accelerated.

In his run, he hit one of the officers and did not stop. He passed out in the open. The police officer was hospitalized but his life was not in danger. He was prescribed a day of total work interruption in the legal sense.
No permit, no insurance
The investigation by the personal injury squad of the territorial crime division then began. These police officers studied the telephone at the scene of the attack, examined the images filmed by the video surveillance cameras and interviewed the witnesses.
They managed to get back to the scooter and identify its driver. The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody, where he explained that he had panicked because he was driving without a license or insurance. The facts were reclassified as aggravated violence.
The accused could be tried as early as Wednesday by the criminal court as part of immediate appearances.
