Mathieu Chabert becomes the new coach of AC Ajaccio, after the departure of Olivier Pantaloni. This Tuesday, July 2, the coach was presented to the press, less than a week before the resumption of training.

It’s official, the ACA has a new coach.

Although several possibilities had been mentioned in recent days, it was ultimately Mathieu Chabert who took over from Olivier Pantaloni, who left for FC Lorient.

This 45-year-old technician knows Corsica: he spent time with the Sporting Club de Bastia between 2019 and 2021.

Mathieu Chabert, who left Le Mans FC last May at the end of the 2023-2024 season, is now committed to two years with the ACA.

The new coach was presented to the press on Tuesday July 2, less than a week before training resumes. On this occasion, he stressed “the opportunity to coach in Ligue 2, to have a club that trusts me at this level since the three previous times I got there through promotions. This is the first time that a club has trusted me at this level.”

And to add: “It’s important to take the temperature, to get to know the staff, even if I already knew them a little, to get to know the environment. It’s something essential for me, that we take the time to properly prepare for this return.”

This arrival comes in a particular context since on June 27, the Ajaccio club was temporarily demoted to National by the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG), responsible for monitoring the accounts of professional football clubs in France.

The leaders immediately appealed the decision and assured that they would “provide the necessary financial guarantees” to the DNCG.
