Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes in Germany but believes another nation is superior to the hosts at Euro 2024.

Jürgen Klopp is enjoying the benefits of life, far from the stress of his job as a coach. A position he still held at Liverpool last season, before choosing to take several months off from this grueling daily routine.

Having left two years before the end of his contract, the German technician has created a peaceful living space with his wife on the island of Majorca where the couple has invested in a sumptuous residence which seems to satisfy him.

“All my life I’ve dreamed of having a house in the south,” the German coach told German tabloid Bild last month. “I like the weather, the climate, I like the people. There are many things I like here.” Sport too.

“Germany is strong”

Present in the stands for the final of the Mallorca tennis tournament last weekend, Klopp did not go unnoticed, sporting his legendary smile, dressed in his German national team jersey.

Approached by journalist Agos Larocca, working for ESPN, Jürgen Klopp was asked about the Euro 2024 football tournament taking place in his country, Germany, and the favourites that are starting to emerge after the group stage (editor’s note: the round of 16 had barely started when he was questioned on Saturday).

“For now it looks like Spain can do it,” he said. “But Germany is strong, France will be strong and England will be better, that’s for sure.”

By far the most attractive nation since the start of the competition, Spain made short work of Georgia (4-1) in the last 16 on Sunday and will challenge Germany, who qualified the day before at the expense of Denmark, for a first summit of this Euro in the quarter-finals.

Much more awkward against Slovakia (2-1 aet), England, under fire from critics, went through the back door, while France won by forceps against its best enemy Belgium (1-0) on Monday.
