The press release:

The Citizens of Reunion in Action (CREA) movement calls on all Reunion Island voters to mobilize for the second round of the legislative elections. Your vote is crucial to choosing the representatives who will shape the future of our island and our country.

CREA does not judge the results of last Sunday’s first round, but seeks to understand their causes and is concerned about the future consequences for our country. After years of increasing abstention, we understand that the massive vote in favor of the extreme right is a sign of a rejection of current politics, an explosive expression of fed-upness and a break with traditional political proposals that have not brought the results expected by citizens. However, even if we recognize the need for a profound change in politics and society, it is crucial not to take the wrong path to achieve a just, united and harmonious society.

Indeed, the radical speeches and proposals of the extremes, and in particular of the far-right National Rally party, although attractive in theory, not only lack feasibility but are also a source of division in our society. To move forward together, we must prioritize dialogue and constructive compromises so that everyone is heard and taken into consideration.

In this crucial period, CREA invites everyone to realize that our vote is a real power that allows us to build a more just and prosperous society for all. To this end, we propose to choose the candidates who present the most responsible, realistic, inclusive and relevant programs in the face of the “end of the month and end of the world” challenges.

Let’s not miss this opportunity to make our voices heard and influence the future of Reunion, for a more harmonious future for all of us. Our choices today will shape our well-being and our good living together tomorrow!

Vanessa Miranville
President of CREA, Mayor of La Possession
