“It happened around 7 p.m., at the intersection of Chemin des Magnolias and Chemin des Saules,” explained Sergeant Marc Tessier of the Sûreté du Québec. The motorcyclist allegedly hit the victim while making a left turn toward Chemin des Saules.

The cyclist was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The motorcycle driver apparently escaped without injury, but reportedly suffered nervous shock, according to police.

Collision scene reconstructionists have been dispatched to the scene to try to understand what could have led to the fatal impact. There is no indication at first glance that a criminal element is part of the equation, it said.

Road trip around Lac-à-la-Tortue

Another collision occurred in Shawinigan, on the night of Monday to Tuesday, at 3:15 a.m., on avenue du Tour-du-Lac, Lac-à-la-Tortue sector.

A vehicle carrying a driver and passenger left the road and hit a tree, according to the authorities’ report.

The passenger in the vehicle is believed to have suffered the most serious injuries, although her life is not in danger.

“Alcohol could be a factor in the loss of control [du véhicule]indicates Sergeant Marc Tessier, a blood sample was taken from the driver.” The latter is 19 years old, specifies the police officer.

Reconstructionists went to the scene to analyze the scene.
