A cyclist lost his life on July 1 in the Saint-Gérard-des-Laurentides sector of Shawinigan.

Around 7 p.m., a driver reportedly attempted to turn left from Chemin des Magnolias onto Chemin des Saules.

He then collided with a septuagenarian who was riding a bicycle, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver was treated for nervous shock.

A patrol officer trained in collision investigation SQ went to the scene to study the accident scene.
