We tend to forget it with the political context and the start of the Olympic Games approaching, but the celebration of the storming of the Bastille is approaching.

On July 14, celebrations will be held across the island to mark the end of the monarchy and the beginning of the Republic of 1789.

Here is the program in Saint-Leu

4 p.m.: Ceremony and Wreath Laying at the War Memorial

The day will begin with a ceremony in tribute to the nation’s heroes. Meet at the War Memorial at 4 p.m. for the laying of wreaths. A moment of reflection and respect for those who sacrificed their lives for their country.

4:30 p.m.: Citizen Parade on the Sea Front

At 4:30 p.m., the seafront will host a large citizens’ parade which will bring together firefighters and police officers with their vehicles and the associations of Saint-Leu who will parade with their members.

6:30 p.m.: DJ entertainment at the Port of Saint-Leu

From 6:30 p.m., meet at the port for a DJ show that will set the tone for the evening.

7:45 p.m.: Speech by the Mayor & Fireworks

The long-awaited moment of the evening begins at 7:45 pm with the mayor’s speech, followed by a magnificent fireworks display. The sky of Saint-Leu will light up with a thousand colors, a pyrotechnic spectacle that will amaze young and old alike.

8:30 p.m.-1 a.m.: Popular Ball – Place de la Poste

The party will continue with a popular ball from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the Place de la Poste. Come dance and enjoy the music under the filaos in a festive and warm atmosphere.

Fairground Stands on the Seafront

From Sunday afternoon, fairground stands will be present on the seafront to allow the public to eat on site.
