Gunshots and suspicions of racist insults in Gard, a fifty-year-old taken into custody

The man, born in 1972, is suspected of having fired several shots during the night of July 1 to 2 and, according to a witness, of having made racist remarks. The police searched for him for several hours, before arresting him in the early morning.

There was a stir in La Grand-Combe, a village in the Gard Cévennes. During the night of Monday 1st to Tuesday 2nd July, an individual wandered through the streets of the town and fired several shots with a rifle, without apparently causing any casualties. According to a witness, he also made racist remarks at the same time.

He was arrested around 7 a.m.

Alerted at around 3am, the Grand-Combien gendarmes immediately set out to search for this individual. And it was only around 7am, when they were about to lift the search device that had been set up, that they were warned of new gunshots, which allowed them to arrest the suspect near his home.

The witnesses have not yet been heard

This 52-year-old man from Gard, who was clearly under the influence of narcotics, was immediately taken into custody at the La Grand-Combe gendarmerie. For the time being, witnesses to the events that occurred during the night have not yet been heard.
