A short mandate of only two years. The outgoing MP Sarah Tanzilli collateral victim of the dissolution of the National Assembly. Candidate Renaissance, in an unfavorable position for the second round, decided to throw in the towel and withdraw her three-way race to avoid a three-way race in the 13th constituency of the Rhône, in the east of the Lyon metropolitan area.

Tiffany Joncour (RN) came in clearly ahead on Sunday with 36.35% of the vote. Victor Prandt (LFI supported by the New Popular Front) came second with 23.23% while Sarah Tanzilli came third with only 24.21%.

The 13th constituency could well swing to the National Rally, which caused the withdrawal of the Macronist elected official on Sunday evening, who should return to civil society after her first express mandate. She calls for vote for an LFI candidate.

Dissolving the National Assembly, “a mistake”

“I am appalled by the result and am withdrawing my responsibilities (…) Dissolving the National Assembly at a time when the extreme right was at its strongest was a mistake,” the candidate declared.

In responsibility, I withdraw and call for a vote for Victor Prandt. I have always fought against far-right ideas. They make me vomit. Our territory deserves better than the RN. Dissolving the Assembly at a time when the far-right was at its highest was a very bad decision.

“Our project is Bardella at Matignon”

The RN candidate assures that she is benefiting from “good momentum” after the European elections.

“We already had a very good dynamic and after fifteen days on the ground, we see that the voters were there. We had some nice surprises in the Rhône and we are going to the second round. The people of Lyon are in favour of the project that we are carrying out. We are not afraid of cancellationswe will go to the second round. The elected officials have been working for 18 months on the ground to be trained for the municipal elections. Everything has accelerated and they are only now in the spotlight. Our project is Bardella Prime Minister,” says Tiffany Joncour.

“Withdrawing under these conditions to allow the National Front to be defeated here is to his credit,” commented Victor Prandt, the LFI candidate supported by the New Popular Front.
