Rabat – The Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) officially launched distance learning courses in the Amazigh language on Monday in Rabat, in the presence of a host of researchers and people active in the field.

This distance learning, which is part of the celebration of the 13th anniversary of the officialization of the Amazigh language, aims to consolidate the achievements made and the promulgation of organic law 26-16, which defines the stages of the implementation of its official character and the means of integrating it into education and into priority areas of public life.

On this occasion, the Rector of IRCAM, Ahmed Boukous, indicated that the realization of the project of this platform is the fruit of cooperation between researchers from inside and outside the Institute. This platform is called upon to contribute to overcoming the dilemmas of teaching and learning the Amazigh language, particularly in terms of the lack of teachers and trainers, he said, noting that the Amazigh language is rapidly integrating into the digital sphere by going beyond traditional teaching methods.

For her part, the director of the Center for Computer Studies and Information and Communication Systems (CEISIC), Siham Boulaknadel, indicated, in a statement to MAP, that these courses are the culmination of four years of work, adding that this step represents an important step in the field of teaching and learning, free of charge, the Amazigh language in its three variants (Tarifit, Tamazight and Tachlhit).

The “MOOC-IRCAM” digital platform is an IRCAM initiative that comes in response to the growing institutional demand for learning the Amazigh language.
