Initiating its entry into force, the partnership agreement concretizing “the tourist roadmap 2023-2026» for Greater Agadir was validated at the beginning of the week by the members of the Regional Council of the Souss-Massa region, announced Eco Inspirations from this Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

The daily newspaper specifies that this program, which will mobilize a budget of a total amount of 1.78 billion dirhams, will attract nearly five million tourists by 2026.

Regarding its budgetary distribution, the contribution of the Souss-Massa Regional Council was set at 361 million dirhams, the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) will release 800 million dirhams, and the Moroccan Tourism Engineering Company (SMIT) nearly 509 million dirhams.

Other partners are called upon to release the equivalent of 110 million dirhams, for the realization of nine programs and projects.

The most important budgetary part of this program, estimated at nearly 840 million DH, concerns support for international air connections to Agadir airport, and promotion of this seaside tourist destination, indicates Eco Inspirations.

In this budget line, “In addition, there is a mechanism for developing land plots that will house tourist accommodation establishments that have not yet been built and listed hotels, to the tune of 198 million dirhams by SMIT and 102 million dirhams by the region.“, writes the daily.

Another project that will be realized: the development of the Souss-Massa Natural Park (for which a budgetary share of 200 million dirhams is planned), in addition to a “upgrade and development program» of 13 beaches in the region (for a budget share of 169 million dirhams).

Other programs, provided for by this implementation agreement, concern support for very small and medium-sized enterprises (VSEs) in the tourism value chain in the greater Agadir region (with a planned budget share of 100 million dirhams), a program for the rehabilitation of tourist sites in the hinterland (budget to be released: 90 million dirhams).

The final document for the implementation of this program also provides, adds Eco Inspirationsan upgrade of the animation of the Agadir destination (with a budgetary share to be released of 40 million dirhams), a standardization of the visual identity of restaurant and business signs in Agadir (with a budgetary share to be released of 20 million dirhams), as well as support for rural tourism, with a planned upgrade of rural accommodation establishments (its budgetary share to be released will be 21 million dirhams).
