Big day for Hugo Page and his Intermarché-Wanty team this Monday July 1st. Thanks to Biniam Girmay, the Belgian team celebrated its first victory in the Tour de France during the 3rd stage. The Eurélien gives us his impressions.
Clévilliers rider Hugo Page, 22, experienced strong emotions this Monday, July 1, during the 3rd stage of the Tour de France. On arrival in Turin, after 230.8 km of racing, the puncher-sprinter only ranked 62nd, 47 seconds behind the winner, to rank 94th overall now led by Richard Carapaz (EF Education).

But he largely did his part of the job and it was one of his teammates, the Eritrean Biniam Girmay, who won the sprint. By message, the Eurelien told us of his happiness:
“It’s incredible. It was the longest day on the Tour, there was no breakaway and it was very long. Afterwards, you realize that on the Tour it’s something else In the last fifty kilometers, there was a lot of pressure, it was very nervous. We all stayed together and in the last four kilometers, we were all wheel to wheel and we managed to avoid crashes. The team has done a huge job and we are rewarded. It’s Intermarché-Wanty’s first victory in the event, the Tour is already a success for us. Now, I’m waiting for France to win so that my day will be. 100% successful!”

After having savored, among his partners, Hugo Page (bib no. 174) will hit the road again this Tuesday July 2 for a 4th stage between Pinerolo and Valloire, 140 km of a mountainous route with the Galibier as the last pass. Not a profile corresponding to his characteristics. But he will be able to ride with a light mind.
