The project to develop a garden of the senses had been in the works for several years , says Nadège Aubert, director of purchasing, assets and logistics for South Channel hospitals. Started in September 2023, the work was finalized last May. Located at the rear of the Arc-en-Sée accommodation facility for dependent elderly people (Ehpad), Avranches hospital, the existing green space has made way for a new garden of 1,200 m² where residents can walk in complete safety. One of the discussions undertaken concerned the problem of walkway passability, and in particular, accessibility for people with reduced mobility. The other big challenge was working on the materials for the 600 m² of paths to make them permeable by allowing water infiltration, and suitable for vehicles.
