Saint-Brieuc: travelers occupy the Red Cross stadium, a few days from Quartiers en fête

On Sunday, June 30, around fifteen caravans of travelers took over the Croix-Rouge stadium (Édouard-Quemper in Cesson). However, this ground is due to host, on Saturday, July 6, the Quartiers en fête festivities, an annual event bringing together residents of the north-eastern neighborhoods of Saint-Brieuc and several local partners.

The prefect was informed of the situation. The municipal police intervened this Monday to ask travelers how long they planned to stay and inform them of the disruption caused to the organization of the activities planned for Saturday. A new intervention by the police is planned for Tuesday to insist on the need to vacate the stadium before the weekend.

“Neighborhoods celebrating”: program maintained?

Despite the uncertainty, the organizers hope to maintain the program planned for Saturday July 6. This year, Quartiers en fête will have the theme “Fairies and Pirates”. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., disguised participants will be able to follow a stroll from the Place de la Cité to the stadium, punctuated by the batucada. On site, dance shows, makeup workshops, games for children and an inflatable structure are planned. More than 500 people are expected at this party which marks the start of summer.
