Lit on April 16 in Greece, the Olympic flame will reach Paris on July 14 and 15, about ten days before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. As it is the national holiday, the starting point will be given on the Champs-Elysées roundabout, as revealed by The Parisian.

The torchbearers will then return to the Petit Palais, where they will be welcomed by opera singers. Then head to the Luxembourg Gardens, before an expected stop on the square in front of the Pantheon, with a dancer’s choreography. Then, after the fire of 2019, the flame will stop in front of Notre-Dame, where fire soldiers will perform a gymnastics show, recalls The Parisian.

A French Cancan at the Moulin Rouge

The flame and its festive atmosphere will then head towards the Marais district, then to Bastille, before stopping in front of the Bataclan for a musical tribute. The first day will end in front of the Town Hall shortly after 11 p.m. You won’t have to hang around too long because you leave early the next day. From 8:15 a.m. on July 15, the flame will start from the brand new Arena at Porte de la Chapelle, built especially for the Olympic Games.

Montmartre will be celebrated by dancers in front of the Sacré-Cœur, and also at the bottom of the hill. The Moulin Rouge dancers will perform a French Cancan in front of the barely renovated building, which lost its wings a few months ago. La Butte aux Cailles in the south of Paris, the Buttes Chaumont in the middle of the afternoon, the streets of Belleville: there will be something for everyone, before the lighting of the cauldron in the evening on the Place de la République.
