For the City of Paris’ candidacy for the 2024 Olympic Games, the French Hiking Federation has set up the latest long-distance trail, the GR75, which tours Paris on foot, through its Olympic and sporting history. 50 kilometers long, it goes around the city from its exterior, crosses 9 peripheral districts of Paris and shows another Paris. France 3 Paris Île-de-France introduces you to this new hike through nine episodes.
It is at Daniel Ramey, president of the Paris hiking committee, who is behind the new GR75. This tireless walker accompanies us for the first stage of the GR75 which begins at La Villette.
Hikers are invited to cross the City of Science and Industry which previously housed large slaughterhouses to which it owed its name City of Blood. A rich history to discover in one of the largest parks in the capital, made up of around fifteen gardens. After passing the old Paris hall, pedestrians head towards the ring road to the Goerges Vallerey swimming pool. A four kilometer walk from Porte de la Villette to Porte des Lilas.
In the second episode, the GR75 takes us to the Porte de St-Mandé and to find the entire route, go to france.tv/idf
