Paris: Man electrocuted on metro tracks

Terrible discovery, this Sunday, June 30, shortly after 7 a.m. The police found the lifeless body of a man at the Belleville station served by metro lines 2 and 11, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.

According to the CCTV cameras that filmed the scene, the victim went down onto the metro tracks before being electrocuted by the rails, we learned from a police source. Images that confirm the version of events of the witness who alerted the emergency services.

This electrocution phenomenon depends on the rail with which the victim came into contact. Indeed, the Paris metro is powered continuously at 750 volts using a “traction rail”, so it is this which presents a danger to life. Besides the latter, the so-called “running” rails are not electrified, which explains why some people who go down the metro tracks escape unscathed.

Traffic disrupted for 4 hours

Despite the care provided by firefighters, the man could not be resuscitated. His body was taken care of by the funeral directors and transported to the Medico-Legal Institute.

Traffic on line 11 was disrupted for several hours following the incident and resumed almost 4 hours later.
