The outgoing MP in a good position. In the 12e Yvelines constituency, Karl Olive (Together!) has arrived well ahead at the end of the first round of legislative elections this Sunday, June 30, 2024. With 40.75% of the vote, he is ahead of Christophe Massiaux (New Popular Front), credited with 30.32% and Jean-Louis Mettelet (National Rally) with 24.88%.

The mobilization was very strong in this territory with 71.42% of voters, compared to only 51.52% in 2022.

“I welcome the fact that in the constituency, like the country, there is a very strong mobilisation,” declares Karl Olive. We have a democratic surge French. And I notice that when you are a local elected official, rather pragmatic and you spend a lot of time in the field, it pays off. We have a score of 40.75% in the 12e constituency, it is almost two points more than the 1is turn of 2022.” The former mayor of Poissy had obtained 38.85%. This Sunday he came in first in 21 of the 23 municipalities in the constituency.

The other two movements in strong progress

One of the municipalities in the constituency that resisted the presidential majority candidate is Plaisir, second in number of inhabitants behind Poissy. It is the NFP candidate who is ahead. “It’s a satisfaction,” rejoices Christophe Massiaux. We are evolving in terms of the number of voters and in percentage. I thank the voters. On your mind on the city of Plaisir, it is proof that the dynamic is there and that this movement is taking shape. »

He adds. »The gap is quite significant with Karl Olive but nothing is impossible. »

The union of the left has also made significant progress in the 12e constituency increasing from 24.1% in 2022 to 30.32% in 2024.

The National Rally is in the same situation. The party’s score doubled, going from 12.16% in 2022 to 24.88% in 2024. “In percentage terms, it’s double and triple in number of votes,” rejoices Jean-Louis Mettelet. Security is one of our measures. Voters must realize that we embody the Republic in the face of chaos. The policy of the outgoing MP and his Macronist friends was not capable of ensuring order in the face of the dangerous forces of a violent left. We will provide the population with better purchasing power and security. »

“We won the first half, we have to win the match”

In the second round it will therefore be a three-way race since the three candidates obtained more than 12.5% of the votes cast. The big favourite, Karl Olive, is not claiming victory, however.

“I come from sport. We won the first half, but we have to win the match that will end on Sunday, July 7 at midnight. I call for the mobilization of all those who find themselves in this gathering that I call the republican front. I have always been in the unity, not in the division, with concrete achievements on the territory.”

Karl Olive, outgoing MP

The outgoing deputy highlights the Beynes gendarmerie or the file of the Grignon château estate in Thiverval-Grignon.

“I am in favor of restoring the authority of the State. There is no monopoly of the extreme right on the sovereign. In Poissy, we reduced youth delinquency by 30%. In the same way, there is no monopoly of the left on the environment and purchasing power. We have also shown it. The French expect clarity and humanity at the heart of organizations.”

On Jean-Louis Mettelet’s side, he denounces the policy of the presidential majority and targets it as responsible for France’s ills.

“Karl Olive, in power for several years, has failed to bring calm in the face of insecurity and in terms of purchasing power. He allowed Macron’s policies to take effect, notably the increase in energy prices which has impoverished us all. There is an urgent need to turn France around and we would like to be able to act quickly and well. »

The same is true for Christophe Massiaux, who also deplores the National Rally’s score at the national level. “It’s catastrophic to see that a far-right party is in the lead. We feel that the country is in crisis and the abandonment of public services is not for nothing. Macron and his government have not responded to the problems of the people, who feel abandoned.”

With the top three having received 95.95% of the votes, the other four candidates did not really exist. The Reconquête! candidate, Bruno Jay, came in fourth, with 1.47% of the votes.

The results of the first round of the 2024 legislative elections in the 12e Yvelines constituency: Karl Olive (Together), 40.75%; Christophe Massiaux (New Popular Front), 30.32%; Jean-Louis Mettelet (National Rally), 24.88%; Bruno Jay (Reconquest), 1.47%; Jean-Pierre Mercier (Workers’ Struggle), 1.06%; Patrick Scellier (Abstentionists) 0.79%; Diabe Kamara (non-party), 0.73%.
