This Sunday, June 30, 2024, the first round of the legislative elections in Charente-Maritime was held. In four of the five constituencies, it was the National Rally which came first in the votes.

In four of the department’s five constituencies, three candidates are able to remain in the second round. In the fourth constituency, the candidate of the New Popular Front, Anne Brachet announced that she was withdrawing in order to block the far right. Conversely, the presidential camp candidate, Anne-Laure Babault announced that she was not withdrawing despite her third place in the second district.

The only constituency to resist the wave of the National Rally is the first constituency of the department where Olivier Falorni came first ahead of the left union candidate Jean-Marc Soubeste. The RN candidate comes in third position with 22.65% of the votes cast.
