An accident occurred around 6:10 p.m. this Sunday during an urban rodeo in Bassens and the toll was very heavy: a young 18-year-old woman was killed instantly. She was a passenger on one of the two dirt bikes that collided. According to the first elements of the investigation, she was not wearing a helmet. Part of his family, shocked, was taken care of by the firefighters. Two young men aged 19, seriously injured, were also transported in absolute emergency to the CHU Pellegrin, in Bordeaux.
“On weekends, young people come to die in Bassens”
“It’s dramatic,” reacts the mayor of Bassens Alexandre Rubio, who speaks of a frequent phenomenon, of “young people doing wheelies”, on this industrial boulevard, near the port. “This phenomenon has been poisoning the lives of the residents of the town for months. Everyone is informed about the subject, all the authorities, the police forces. And we cannot resolve any problems. We do not see any not the end”, deplores the mayor, who says he has issued a municipal decree to prohibit the circulation of two-wheelers on weekends on this axis. “We need people on site to help us,” he asks.
“On weekends, young people come to Bassens to die, and I can’t bring myself to do it,” adds Alexandre Rubio, who recalls the death of a young 22-year-old motorcyclist, in the same place, last August.
