An eventful Sunday morning at Quatre-Temps. Shortly after 10:30 a.m., two men managed to steal several dozen phones from a store in the famous shopping center in the La Défense business district (Hauts-de-Seine).
The two individuals allegedly carried out this lightning robbery without targeting the staff of the telephone store and without even showing a weapon. “They were wearing helmets and gloves and claimed to be armed,” explains a police source. The two robbers notably pretended to hold something at their belt.
Enough to convince the staff of the Bouygues Telecom store, shocked by this attack, to dial the safe code and give the two robbers around fifty smartphones, most of them iPhones. The two men then managed to flee. The damage, which remains to be precisely assessed, is currently estimated between 35,000 and 40,000 euros.
Frequent in Hauts-de-Seine and in western Paris with businesses targeted in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Rueil-Malmaison or Bois-Colombes, robberies of telephone stores have become rarer in recent months. Particularly since the arrest of young criminals, sometimes minors, from Nanterre.
In April 2023, 15 young people aged 15 to 26 were indicted in Nanterre for armed robbery and concealment of theft. The investigating judge accused them of having robbed three Bouygues Télécom stores in December 2022 in Paris, in the 16th and 17th arrondissements, as well as in La Garenne-Colombes.
