How to easily activate free 5G on your Orange or Sosh plan before July 7?

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are fast approaching and to mark the occasion, the historic French operator Orange has decided to give its subscribers a nice gift. Until July 7, it is possible to activate the 5G option for free on your Orange or Sosh mobile plan, whether you are a 4G customer or not. A seduction operation that aims to promote the new network but also to relieve congestion on the 4G network, which risks being saturated during the global sporting event. Here’s how to take advantage of it in just a few clicks.

A simple online form to switch to 5G for free

To benefit from this promotional offer called “5G Discovery“, nothing could be simpler. All you have to do is go to the dedicated site set up by Orange and log in with your customer identifiers. You will then be able to add the 5G option to your current plan for freewithout having to change your offer or price.

The form is accessible until July 18, date on which Orange will carry out the final switch of all registered customers to 5G. But the operator advises doing so before July 7 to be sure of being able to take advantage of it during the Olympic Games.

Progressive activation to avoid disrupting the network

With potentially 12 million customers affectedOrange preferred to play the caution card to avoid disrupting its 5G antennas. The activation will therefore be done gradually, with some subscribers already having access and others waiting.

Once your request is registered, the “5G Discovery” option will appear in your customer area with the status “awaiting activation”. You will then receive a Confirmation SMS once 5G is activated on your line. You will then simply need to restart your smartphone to take advantage of it (provided of course you have a 5G compatible model).

And after September 8?

This promotional operation will end on September 8, 2024. Orange has not yet communicated on what will happen after this date. Will 5G remain included free of charge in the packages as they have just done? SFR et Bouygues Telecom ? Or will we have to go back to the checkout? The suspense remains.

In the meantime, if you are an Orange or Sosh customer, you know what you have to do to enjoy the joys of 5G and its increased speed for free for all summer. Enough to follow the exploits of French athletes without fear of seeing your mobile connection slow down or saturate.
