The outgoing MP for the 15th constituency, who defeated the PS in the second round in 2022, will have to face the official LFI candidate, the CGT leader Céline Verzeletti.

Danielle Simonnet will have to go through a second round to keep her mandate. The outgoing MP from Paris, who had won the constituency from the PS in 2022, came out on top with 41.95% of the vote, against 22.49% for her rival Céline Verzeletti, invested by the New Popular Front. The other candidates, the Renaissance Mohamad Gassama (16.35%) and the RN Clotilde Guery (9.07%) failed in the first round.

The 15th district of the capital is used to sororicidal left-wing duels. In 2022, Danielle Simonnet had to fight against the socialist Lamia El Aaraje, notoriously opposed to Nupes, to win her first mandate as a deputy. Two years later, the opponent has changed but not the dissident atmosphere in the 15th district. The former regional councilor, historically close to Jean-Luc Mélenchon, saw her nomination withdrawn in favor of the Cégetist Céline Verzeletti. A consequence of her criticism of the internal functioning of LFI, leading her to the same fate as her colleagues Alexis Corbière, Raquel Garrido and Hendrik Davi. The express campaign was also marked by a brief legal battle over the right of the elected official to use the term “New Popular Front” on her posters, which her opponent contested. The Paris court declared itself incompetent to decide the dispute.

Two years ago, Danielle Simonnet won this constituency, which had long been the Socialist Party’s, with 58.45% of the vote in the second round.

As soon as they are published by the Ministry of the Interior in the evening, find all the results by constituency of the first round of the 2024 legislative elections on the site of Release.
