The third city of Tarn will soon have new equipment dedicated to “non-ball” sports. The first stone of the future multi-activity room was asked last week. It's not just one room, but several. And not really a gymnasium, but an extension of an existing gymnasium, Albert-Camusrue des Chalets.

Fencing, boxing, gym…

250 m2 will therefore be dedicated to sports practice without a ball (touch and precision sports, such as fencing and boxing) and 150 m2 of parquet for the practice of artistic sports and body expression. Two new rooms connected to the gymnasium by a covered passageway.

“Faced with the context of global warming that we are facing, it is essential to do everything possible to have pleasant outdoor and indoor spaces, cooled naturally, without losing sight of the functional side and the quality of the spaces, and all by integrating the building into its site and its natural environment,” estimates Gaillac town hall.

“Mashrabiya” sun brick

Heating, but also cooling will therefore be provided by a heat pump and destratifiers, “in order to move towards a positive energy building”. “Mashrabiya” sun brick will also be used. It presents, according to the City, “multiple advantages, such as effective and lasting protection of facades, while avoiding direct sunlight and summer overheatingwith an additional creation of light shows making spaces intimate.

Outdoor grounds

But the outdoors and ball sports will not be forgotten. Two basketball courts will also see the light of day, one of which will be covered and will accommodate a photovoltaic electricity production plant with a power of 115 kW, installed on a supporting structure above the field.

Parking and green spaces will complete this sports complex which will be delivered during June 2025 and will therefore be ready for the next school year.
