the essential
Will a Tarn-et-Garonnais be number 2 in the French Football Federation? This is the hope of the president of the Tarn-et-Garonne District who is working alongside Pierre Samsonoff.
He has just been re-elected for a third consecutive term at the head of the District of Tarn-et-Garonne. Jérôme Boscari has changed the vision of football in the department. Today he is aiming higher, alongside the former director of the FFF who has resigned.
How do you end up running for such a position?
For several years now, as District President, we have been highlighting the dysfunctions of the federation, which have a huge impact on the life of the clubs and volunteers. This lack of interest in very sensitive subjects makes us feel lonely. We are not presenting a list against someone, but to propose a medium and long term vision, to restore confidence in football from below.
You're kind of the ringleader of all this. Why not be at the top of the list?
That's not the objective (smile). Our objective is to have a very broad representation of our football in all its components, with all the people who play French football.
Is the image of French football disastrous?
Many have lost confidence in the federation. Our desire is to restore this confidence to the amateur world, but also to the professional world, because the French federation must also come to the side of the professional world. Rather than putting ourselves in opposition, it is important to find bridges of convergence. If professional football goes badly, the house of cards shakes. We need to find a way of operating that respects everyone. The current president has other concerns than amateur football, that’s an observation. The people of the FFF are very far removed from amateur football. Our role will not be to say that we need 50 or 60 million euros more for amateur football. But does amateur football feel today that 103 million are being distributed to it? Is the aid sufficiently targeted? In our opinion, this is not the case. And who better placed than those who are at the heart of the amateur football reactor. On our territory, we are fighting to improve and modernize our infrastructure. Unfortunately, the federation turned off the taps for us. Support for purchasing minibuses has been removed. The federation wants bigger and bigger clubs, which have difficulty structuring themselves. Our desire is to target employment support for clubs.
The promotion of referees, already
A former referee, Jérôme Boscari already had a role in the French federation, at the time of Noël Le Graet, as president of the commission in charge of the promotion and development of amateur refereeing. “I think this mission has been more than accomplished since we left two years ago with 18,000 referees, and today we are at 26,000. All this federal plan that we deployed has borne fruit. »
The results will be known on December 14. Are you considering a new life?
(smile). We're not there yet. For now, our mission is to make clubs understand that for the first time, they have the opportunity to vote. Their future lies in their own hands. Everyone must tell themselves that they have their destiny at stake. Whatever happens, I will not abandon my clubs, and I will always be present in this District. If we get involved at the national level, it is to serve football, and all the clubs. I really like the clubs in Tarn-et-Garonne.
Is it an obstacle course?
This week, it's the families of high-level players, referees, educators… who vote. Then, on the 10th and 11th, it will be up to the clubs to express themselves. I hope that the clubs in the department will support their president (smile). I have always been very clear with them. They know all the problems they have to face every day. They know that we need a regulatory shock to re-oxygenate our activity. I'm going there for a good cause.
