More than 24 hours after settling in the port of Bordeaux, in Bassens, to block goods coming from abroad, the farmers of the Rural Coordination decided to leave the place on Friday November 22. A decision which comes after Michel Barnier's speech before the Senate, in which he agrees with the farmers on the regulations.

The speech by Prime Minister Michel Barnier had an effect on the rural coordination of Lot-et-Garonne and Gironde. Friday, November 22, dozens of farmers from this organization left the port of Bordeaux, a place they had been blocking for more than 24 hours.
This Friday morning, the fifty tractors which blocked the roundabout providing access to the port gradually returned to the road. Those from Lot-et-Garonne are heading back to Agen, from where they left on Wednesday.
Just a few minutes after their departure, several backhoe loaders and trucks began cleaning the entrance to the site. In particular, they must evacuate piles of earth and waste left by farmers. Firefighters are also helping to put out trash fires.
Yesterday, in a speech to the Senate, the Prime Minister conceded that “farmers are right to ask that we look at the European provisions one by one and their application here“.
The Minister of Agriculture Annie Genevard promised, “announcements in the coming days regarding simplification” during a trip to Pas-de-Calais. These statements came back to the ears of the farmers of the Rural Coordination a few hours later.
“Mr Barnier was asked to commit to the over-transposition of European rules. He responds openly to what he was asked“ reacted José Pérez, co-president of Rural Coordination 47, yesterday at the end of the day to AFP. “We are people of our word, we decided to break camp.”
These farmers give the government six months to implement “all the regulatory work that remains to be done“, particularly on unfair competition.”Now is the time to act to save French agriculture. Without results on our farms, we remain mobilized” promises Rural Coordination, in its Facebook post.
