The Aude departmental council is organizing its international solidarity forum on Saturday, November 30 at the Hôtel du Département.

“Faced with current territorial and global challenges, such as the accentuation of inequalities, the rise of discrimination and the acceleration of global warming, the time is more than ever for cooperation.” This is the first time that the Aude departmental council has organized its international solidarity forum in the presence of associations which carry out actions on the territory but also abroad “in order to contribute to the creation of fairer and more sustainable societies”.

It will take place on Saturday November 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hôtel du Département in . “We have been engaged for several years on the international issuerecalls departmental councilor André Viola. It is more necessary than ever to talk about it. I am thinking in particular of climate change.” On the program: debate workshops on sustainable development will be organized during the day, a music concert is also planned.

Nineteen associations will participate in the event, whether local or national like SOS Méditerranée which carries out rescue missions at sea. They will be able to meet the public and interact with them. We also hope that they will find financial partners and volunteers.”underlines the former president of the Department. And to add: “The community wants to support associations which will be victims of a 30% drop in their public aid with the 2025 budget. It is important for us to give them a spotlight.”

Aude Third World

If the departmental council has decided to invest alongside the associations, it is also to take up the torch of the work carried out by the Aude Tiers Monde association. “With its president Roger Bertrand, the organization had carried out numerous actions. It was created in 1987. Today the other associations have turned to us because Aude Tiers monde no longer exists”, concludes André Viola.
