The gendarmerie may have avoided a tragedy by stopping this motorist who was driving at very high speed, in the town of Toulonjac, as reported Actu.fr. In fact, motorcyclists from the Villefranche-de-Rouergue brigade caught a driver who was traveling 84 km/h above the authorized speed.
In a message published on its Facebook account this Tuesday, the Aveyron gendarmerie explained that the arrested man was “in a hurry to test his car”.
Immediate retention of driving license
Thus, the man was flashed at 174 km/h on a road which was however limited to 90 km/h. An offense which will have resulted in the driver having his vehicle immobilized and impounded. The man also had his driving license immediately withheld by the police, before having to continue his journey on foot. He will soon be summoned before the Rodez court.
According to the gendarmerie's Facebook post, the latter “risks a heavy fine, as well as the suspension of his driving license”. Moreover, the message from the police on the social network did not fail to provoke a reaction, since it was commented on numerous times by Internet users. The latter shared their anger and dismay at this significant speeding violation.
