Saturday, November 16, a beautiful atmosphere reigned at the Neighborhood Center for a significant general assembly at the pétanque section of Omnisports, affiliated with the Haute Lande sector: in office for eight years, President Françoise Cantel handed over the reins. She first asked for “a minute of silence in memory of Jean-Marc Brouch, also very involved in pétanque. Above all, I wanted to carry out the fitting-out work on our new premises. Thank you to those who, not always numerous among the fifty or so licensees, helped us. Congratulations to Jesus for maintaining this place.”
On the financial side, Jean-Christophe Bats has had a calm situation which will even allow half of the purchase of the new outfits to be paid for. For the meetings of the year, Thierry Callède recounted these multiple outings in the department: Coupe de France, Trophée des Landes veterans, Senior club cup and other local festivals with this record of 83 doubles. End of the 2024 circuit at Betbezer which will be remembered.
Dense work and conviction
Arriving at departure time “and new arrivals to run the club”, Julien Escarpit, president of Omnisports, explained the recent revision of the statutes and related rules with this clarification: “being dismissed for six months to be elected.” Alain Hisel will therefore wait until 2025 to become president, a role which will now fall to Thierry Callède for a few months. He wished “a great season in a good atmosphere and many volunteers”. The new secretary is Antony Dyli while Jean-Christophe Bats remains treasurer.
Julien Escarpit thanked “the starters for all this work accomplished. Thank you to those who remain in this very lively section. A big thank you to Françoise, always very direct, for having delivered with great conviction.” Formula that Mayor Laurent Civel found “very elegant to translate the dense work and remarkable organization of Françoise who always knew how to assert your rights”. Finally, for the Haute Lande district, Maryse Shot praised “this respect for regulations. Know that we will always be here to help you.”
