Stade Toulouse outclasses Bordeaux (59-3) and wins its 23rd French championship title

Stade Toulouse is crowned champion of France for the 23rd time in its history after its big victory against Union Bordeaux-Bègles (59-3) and achieves the Championship-European Cup double.

A real humiliation to end the season. In a burning Vélodrome stadium, host of this Top 14 final, the Stade Toulouse of Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack performed a demonstration by leaving no chance to Union Bordeaux-Bègles (59-3).

From the kick-off of the match, the “Red and Black” showed that they were present with three tries scored by Antoine Dupont (6′ and 23′) and Peato Mauvaka (20′). Opposite, the players of Union Bordeaux-Bègles could only respond with a penalty converted by Maxime Lucu (11′), preventing the Bordeaux team from going into the locker room without a single point scored (22-3).

An exceptional season for Stade Toulousain

The second half was nothing but a long ordeal for the Bordeaux team, who did not score a single point. On the other hand, Antoine Dupont’s team had fun with 6 tries scored by Thomas Ramos (64′ and 74′), Julien Marchand (67′), Blair Kinghorn (70′), David Ainu’u (79′), and Ange Capuozzo (80+2′), who scored a try when the Toulouse team could have ended the match by kicking into touch (59-3).

With an almost perfect match, Stade Toulouse broke several records, including that of the largest victory in a Top 14 final, with a difference of 56 points. But above all, Ugo Mola’s team achieved a historic Championship-European Cup double, a little over a month after a success against the Irish Leinster (31-22).
