the essential
This Thursday, November 21, Aveyron is under yellow alert for wind, while Lozère is facing a snow-ice alert. The first snows cover Aubrac, offering ephemeral winter landscapes.
Since last night, snowflakes have appeared on the heights of Aveyron and Lozère. According to Météo Sud-Aveyron, snowfall was observed in Aubrac and Viadène, from 900 to 1,000 meters above sea level.
Although the ground will turn slightly white, the snow is expected to melt quickly due to the fluctuating rain-snow line.
Yellow alert
The department of Aveyron, placed on yellow alert for wind, is also experiencing significant rainfall.
Between Wednesday and Thursday, the accumulations reached 30 to 40 mm on reliefs such as Lévézou and the Monts de Lacaune, and exceeded 50 mm on Aubrac. Lower areas record rainfall of 10 to 25 mm.
In Lozère, under snow-ice alert, winter conditions are present. The temperatures recorded this morning illustrate the harshness of the climate: + 0.5 °C in Sainte-Geneviève-sur-Argence, – 0.3 °C in Laguiole, and up to – 2 °C at the ski resorts of Brameloup and Laguiole.
