The gendarmes had been actively looking for him since September 28, according to information from Actu.fr. But after several weeks on the run, the wanted thirty-year-old recently surrendered to the Moult-Chicheboville gendarmerie.
The man was obviously drunk when he showed up at the premises of the brigade which is located near Caen, in the Calvados department. He admitted to the police that he was the one who fired in the direction of a caravan, in a Travelers camp, in Thue-et-Mue.
Shotgun shots for a bad joke
The events took place during the night of Saturday September 28 to Sunday September 29. The suspect, aged 30, explained to the police that he had argued with his friend during a drunken evening. While the victim had made a joke about the mother of the thirty-year-old, the latter would have come out of his hinges. A fight would therefore have broken out between the two men and punches would have been thrown.
Still according to the suspect's words, the latter finally left the caravan to return, armed with his hunting rifle. He then allegedly fired several shots, towards his friend's home and vehicle, before fleeing the scene. The man was presented before the Caen public prosecutor's office last Wednesday, before his appearance in court.
