A new project carried out by a collective to revitalize the town and create a place to live and work.

This is a new project which is emerging in West Aveyron. The Les Entreprise.es collective, founded this year, aims to rehabilitate the former Panissal hotel in La Salvetat-Peyralès. Built in 1925, the establishment has been closed for 25 years.

The collective wants to transform the infrastructure to accommodate offices and cultural projects. “We want to liven up this place to breathe new life into the town,” says Nathalie Malaterre, who is leading the project with the rest of the collective. The latter mainly brings together independents and senior executives, people aged 30 to 60, from the La Salvetat diaspora as well as native inhabitants or new arrivals. The project leaders have already created the third place Le Pré Vert in Rabastens, in Tarn.

Rooms transformed into offices

“We want to create a pleasant place that makes you want to come and work there,” adds Nathalie Malaterre. The old hotel rooms will be repurposed into functional offices. An operation possible thanks to the investments of an individual who bought the building, to make it available to the association. “The hotel has continued to be maintained. We only have to rehabilitate the electrical part to bring it up to standard and carry out some refreshments”, underlines Nathalie Malaterre.

“The inhabitants of the area will also be able to take over the place, propose developments and organize cultural activities, particularly in the common areas on the ground floor.”

An information meeting

To accommodate workers, the building will be open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. “This operation adapts to new lifestyles. The old hotel will also host a tea room and will work in conjunction with the André Calvignac nursing home to develop a project linked to seniors,” continues the association.

This Friday, at 8 p.m., at the La Salvetat village hall, the evening of the public launch of the associative project takes place. “The inhabitants of the region are invited to an evening of information and discussions around the future to give it,” comments the collective.
