The event is aiming for a record participation this year despite the constraints linked to the legislative elections. Varied events and a spectacular course are on the program.

This 8th edition of the Montauban triathlon will not have been the easiest to put together with the irruption in the calendar of the legislative elections. But as the organizer of the event likes to take on challenges, this year he is aiming for a record participation on July 6 and 7. “Even if the elections add some organizational constraints, only favorable weather will be crucial for the complete success of this 8th edition, believes Yannick Pedrono. Our meeting has found its place in the triathletes’ calendar and this year we will be the 3rd stop city of the national long distance circuit this year will be to do better than the 1,041 entered last year.

On the “Gorillaman”, a race whose start will be given on Sunday at 9:00 a.m., there will be 189 to start (compared to 45 in 2022 and 105 last year). In this event combining 1.9 km of swimming in the Tarn, 90 km of cycling in the hills of Lafrançaise and 21 km of running in the historic center of Montauban, we will find major figures of French triathlon: William Mennesson and Erwan Jacobi licensed in Monaco will compete for victory unless Thibault Colard (formerly licensed in Montauban) or Paulin Philippe (Liévin) come to play spoilsport. Among the girls, Marion Legrand (graduated from Meaux) is the overwhelming favorite with an international level.

On Sunday, the youngsters (8-11 years old) will take part in an event comprising 100 metres of swimming in the Tarn, followed by 2 km of cycling and 1 km of running in the Cours Foucault. The last to start the weekend will be those taking part in the M (Olympic) distance. This is the most popular format with more than 300 competitors at the start at 12:30 p.m. They will do 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of walking.

Note this year, the programming of two races in Sprint format (one reserved for the discovery of triathlon where athletes can participate even with their mountain bike and a second dedicated to competition). The start will be given on Saturday July 6 from 5:45 p.m. Don’t miss this condensed format, the most spectacular of the weekend. The bike course, exclusively urban and very fast, will include restarts for the most experienced (four 5 km loops going up the Pont-Vieux ramp). The running route around Cours Foucault will finish at dusk. Yannick Pedrono will once again be able to rely on more than 200 volunteers to organize one of the most beautiful sporting events of the summer in the region.

There are still a few places left in all formats. Registrations on: triathlonmontauban.fr
